His strong interest in film and video led to involvement in numerous corporate videos, music videos and low budget experimental short films in the early 1980’s. This was the beginning of what would become his life’s calling. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior back in 1981 but. “It wasn’t until I joined Higher Ground in 1998 that I felt God wanted me to serve Him (and my local church) through the Video Ministry.
Following his video work with many of Higher Grounds foreign mission trips to Nicaragua, Honduras and Peru, he accepted a part-time position as Higher Ground’s Technical Director/Coordinator in 2003.
In conjunction with the first television broadcast (June 4, 2005), Rob accepted a full time staff position as the Television & Media Ministry Director. He left a successful family business in Abingdon and relocated from Bristol to Kingsport.
"I strongly believe in the ministry here at Higher Ground and had carried a burden for us to have a regional television outreach since 1998. Higher Ground already had a established local radio program but, I felt it was time move to television would better represent our services and what our ministry has to offer. It was matter of prayer and timing. Since our first broadcast back in 2005, our televised services have ministered to many thousands of people. We just love receiving emails and feedback from many of the people our program has impacted. We also have a Livestream feed on the internet that reaches people all over the world. Having even a small part in reaching the world for Jesus Christ is so very rewarding!
It's definitely a team effort! This particular outreach ministry involves so many skilled people along with so much more work than most people realize. However, If you ask any of our Tech team members, there is no question that it's all worth the sacrifice and effort. In addition, our music, messages and ministry offer so many people hope and encouragement through a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. Our ultimate goal is to point people to Jesus, and help them realize He's all they need.”
